I’m Sala

I’m Sala, a queer yogi, artist, and space holder from Sri Lanka, a small island alive with ancient memory, ancestral rhythms, and deep spiritual roots. I was raised between tradition and silence, between the life I was expected to live and the life my spirit kept whispering toward. Today I create and hold space on the south coast, guiding people through yoga, ritual, queer wellness, creativity, and soul work. My life is a devotion to truth, healing, and the remembering of love, the kind that begins within and radiates outward.

What sparked my awakening?

My awakening did not crash into my life in one dramatic moment. It unfolded as a truth I could no longer outrun. For thirty years I silenced myself. I hid my queerness, my sensitivity, my creativity, and the bright, wild parts of me that felt too much for the world around me. I learned to shrink. To adapt. To survive.

Then my daughter was born.

Her arrival cracked open the shell I had lived in for decades. I understood instantly that I could not raise a child in truth while still abandoning my own. That moment became my first initiation into honesty, courage, and soul. From there, my life became a slow and steady reclaiming. A choosing of myself after a lifetime of self abandonment. A remembering of the man I had always been beneath the silence.

What is shifting in my life now ?

I am moving through a deep clearing, an inner monsoon washing away the old layers of fear, doubt, and inherited shame. My life is reorganising itself around devotion: to fatherhood, to queerness, to art, to spirit, and to the work I am meant to do in this lifetime.

There is a new clarity rising in me, steady and unmistakable. I feel myself becoming more grounded, more unapologetic, more truthful than ever before. This season is a rewiring, a return, a re inhabiting of my own light.

I am learning to trust who I am without shrinking, without explaining, and without dimming. From that place, I create spaces for others to do the same. To remember their own truth, their own medicine, their own belonging.
